Giant tortoises return to Galápagos island after nearly 200 years

Giant tortoises, absent from their ancestral home for almost two centuries, have been successfully reintroduced to a Galápagos island. The species, which was driven to extinction by sailors during the 19th century, has now made a comeback with the release of 158 juvenile tortoises onto the island.
