A new scheme to restrict the movement of serious violent and sexual offenders is set to be implemented in October. Under this initiative, individuals convicted of such offenses will face limitations on their geographical whereabouts for a period after their release from prison and while on probation. The restriction zone scheme will allow authorities to confine offenders to areas as small as a few miles, providing an additional layer of public safety. This measure aims to mitigate risks by closely monitoring and controlling the movements of individuals deemed a high risk to the community. The program is designed to be a proactive approach to preventing further offenses by managing offender reintegration more stringently.
