Following a determined hunt, beekeepers and inspectors have successfully located an Asian hornet nest in Oldham. The breakthrough came after a meticulous operation utilizing GPS trackers to follow the movements of the invasive insects. This discovery is a significant step in efforts to control the spread of the Asian hornet, a species known for its predatory impact on honeybee populations. The successful tracking and subsequent nest identification will enable targeted action to remove the threat posed by the hornets to native pollinators.
